5 things I’m Loving: February Edition

Oh hey guys. I know. Its been awhile. I could write a long post about it. But I’d rather write a long post about the 5 things I’m Loving: February Edition. Also, my absence is really easy to explain. I had a baby. Do you really need me to say more about that? (But really, do you? Because I can talk for days about my awesome kid.) I’m just going to leave it at that and assume you have an idea what that does to your world and you forgive me. OK now that we are friends again (thank you, I’ve missed you soooo much) let’s get to February awesomeness.

1. Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix

I think I need this in my life. It’s heavy out there these days and a little Drew Barrymore on the regular might help me sleep better at night. Like the good ol’ days when I knew the White House was in good hands. Also, as much as I fought it I got into TWD but I can’t  handle this season. I saw one trailer and was like that shit is too dark for the times we are living in. Agree?

In SCD Joel ( Timothy Olyphant) and Sheila Hammond (Drew Barrymore) play realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita, until Sheila goes through a dramatic change sending both their lives down a road of death and destruction… but in a good way. Check out the trailer here.

SCD starts streaming 2/3 counting down the days . . .

2. Vice Collection Bento Box from Sugarfina

Finally a box of chocolates that I don’t feel cheesy giving to my lover. It features beautiful packaging and on the reals, flavors my man will enjoy like Single Malt Scotch Cordials, Maple Bourbon Caramels, Pale Ale Pint Gummies and Chocolate Bacon Toffee, that’s just the begining. Unlike all the pink and red boxes that feel obviously like I’m giving him a gift that I wanted for myself, this has sexy man written all over it. But low key, we know he better hide those MBC from me.

3. Datebox

In February, if we are doing it right, we go out of our way for our loved ones with sweet gifts meant to demonstrate the depth of our love. But let’s be real, a lot of us are not doing it right, amirite? Life, man. Even though it’s one day a year sometimes we miss the boat and also, only one day a year?

That’s why I love the idea of a date night box subscription. Huh? You heard me right. Datebox  sends everything you need for a date right to your mailbox. a. how fun would it be to receive such a surprise every month among all that not-so-fun stuff and b. no excuses, you got date night every month. This sushi date has me swooning imagining the fun A and I would have getting lost in the aisles of a specialty store.

Give your love a box of chocolates, eat for a day (or 30 minutes). Give your love a Datebox (subscription) date for a year.

4. I’m Here for the Commercials Super Bowl Party  by Beijos Events

I guess we need to talk about the other thing happening this month. You know the thing that sandwiches what’s sure to be an epic Lady Gaga performance – the Super (boring) Bowl.

I know I’m not alone here because the team over at Beijos Events created a party and called it what we all are thinking, I’m Only Here for the Commercials, lol! Also, the seven layer dip.

If you ask me their event is a touchdown (yup, I did that). Creating a twist on chips and salsa they stuffed avocados with beet hummus chickpeas and topped with a balsamic glaze. I guess I could sit through an inning/ quarter/ match or whatever, for those avocados.

5. Ryan Adams ‘Prisoner’ Album

My love for Mr. Adams goes way back. I can listen all day, everyday. Some people didn’t love his cover of Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’. I wasn’t one of them. I bumped that shit with an enthusiasm that only Taylor herself could rival.

I’ve waited for years to see him live. But during my prime concert going years he was married to Mandy Moore and well, you know. Needless to say by the time the opportunity came I was 40 weeks pregnant. If you don’t know, that’s go time. I had those tickets in the cart for a week before I lost my nerve. The idea of going into labor right there at the Greek  just didn’t feel right. Also, I did not want to be a headline, “Obsessed Fan Risks Unborn Baby’s Life to Catch Musician in Concert.” I have enough scandal.

So when I came across this post on IG I was so excited. New album, new live dates and I’m not missing it this time. Even if I’ve gotta show up at Amoeba with my baby strapped to my chest. Mom’s can be groupies too. Buy the album and meet me at Amoeba!

Okay guys, I’m back. That felt good. I look forward to seeing more of you. In the meantime please be kind. Really, go be kind, like the Obamas taught us. #thosewerethedays.
