#NationalBestFriendDay

Three posts in a row having to do with #National_fill-in-the-blank_Day. I told you I was going to try and keep up with all these celebratory days in June, this is three, and I think I’ve met my quota.

But before I pull the plug, let’s celebrate #NationalBestFriendDay with a thoughtful DIY: Sharpie #Adulting Mugs.

This DIY was inspired by a recent conversation I had with my long-distant bff wherein we were both lamenting the drag that is #adulting.

Adulting (v): to do grown up things and hold responsibilities such as, a 9-5 job, a mortgage/rent, a car payment, or anything else that makes one think of grown ups.

Right? Some days it’s just too much. Some days you just throw your hands in the air and give up on it all. But . . . some days . . . you’re like, “I got this!” Some days you’re #adultinglikeaboss.

As I mentioned we are long-distance bffs so we don’t often get the opportunity to get together for simple things like coffee, but we both sure do enjoy it. So I thought I’d transform these glass mugs into a #NationalBestFriendDay gift that could be a part of this important ritual and even better, they could provide some encouragement on those tough days and words of affirmation on the good days.

Side note about glass mugs: I love these mugs from Target. They are just a couple bucks each and are great for last minute gifts. I usually have a few extra laying around my house. Add some Starbucks Via packets or your favorite tea  to them and throw in a gift bag. Gift in minutes and for under $10.

For this project I used a Sharpie paint pen in gold. I printed up a few sayings about adulting:”not adulting today” and “adulting like a boss.” This project is fast and easy no special artistic skills needed. Just affix the printed saying to the inside of your mug and trace.

Wait for the paint to try between retracing. I would recommend retracing a few times to get the desired color. Also, keep a wet wipe close by so that you can quickly clean up any mistakes.

One you get the design where you want it, set on a cookie sheet inside an oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes. Let cool in oven and allow 24 hours before use. Hand wash only.

And that’s it! I call that #bestfriendinglikeaboss.

How are you celebrating #NationalBestFriendDay? Let me know.
